The Mitchell Family

It is with heavy hearts that the Mitchell family announces the passing of our

husband and dad, Roscoe, on January 9th 2007 after a long and courageous battle

with cancer.

Daddy's legacy was always to strive to be better at everything he did.  From his

humble beginnings in Thayer, Missouri through his service in the United States

Army, college at the University of Missouri, and his thirty-years with the

now ExxonMobil company, he always tried to do his best.

We will miss him greatly, as will his many friends whom he came to know over his

life.  We also thank each and every one of you for your love and support of Roscoe,

and of us.

Roscoe was laid to rest on Friday, January 12th 2007 at noon, at the Houston

National Cemetery.

The brief summary of Daddy's life can be found at

May God bless you and yours,

Kirtsy, Roger, Karen, Marcia, and the Grandkids Kayla and Shane

Roscoe is a transplanted Ozarkian from Missouri, and Kirtsy hails from Oklahoma.  We were married in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but since 1965 have claimed Texas as our home.

Roscoe retired from Exxon (now ExxonMobil) in 1986, so you can surmise that he’s no spring chicken!  After serving in the army during the Korean Conflict, he attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1956.  His entire working career after that was with Exxon and affiliated companies, mostly in the use of computers in exploration and production equipment.

You can read about Kirtsy and her music on her own page.

Son Roger works for a NASA contractor in Clear Lake in the Digital Imaging Laboratory.  A very outdated resumé can be found at

NASA QUEST/Roger Mitchell

Actually, he now works for the Photographic Lab.  And the resumé is very outdated.

Be sure also to check out the web pages of my two daughters!  Musickscapes is primarily my artist daughter’s on-line art gallery.  Marcia’s Homepage devotes much of its space to the disease from which she suffers, Multiple Sclerosis.  It’s a little outdated now, as her husband is now manager of one of the newest and largest H & H Music Stores in the country (Mars Music, for which he was a store manager at the time she last updated her site, went out of business at the end of 2002).

The Pudgy Greetings are a unique method of mailing gifts or just greetings to friends and family members.  The owner is a very good friend of mine, and presented me with a gift of this web domain name.

The Roscoe Mitchell Family Web Site

If you are looking for Roscoe Mitchell, the great jazz saxophonist  of Chicago, I’m not him!  And, yes, I do have some of his records and can say that he is a great contemporary jazz artist!   I do not believe he has a web page, although there are many web sites containing information about him and his music.
